Netflix fires staff from its Tudum fan site

Most of the 10-member Tudum culture and trends team was fired, according to an expert. They said the staff had not been warned about the layoffs in advance, and other employees learned that their colleagues had been fired via Twitter. Many of the writers were experienced journalists who lured Netflix from other media outlets, the person says. The person also claims that there is news of layoffs in other teams. Netflix did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The company told protocol there were no plans to close Tudum, calling it “a major priority for the company.”

The layoffs follow last week’s news that the streaming giant was losing subscribers for the first time in more than a decade.
