PlayStation Network had a bit of a rough patch on Tuesday night. For about 45 minutes, Sony’s PlayStation Network status page showed that all of its services were experiencing problems in one way or another, affecting things like logging into your account and connecting to PlayStation Now and the PlayStation Store. However, now the site shows that everything is “up and running”.
It is not clear how widespread the problems were. I was able to personally connect online in bloodborne and send a message to a colleague, but the PS5’s PlayStation Store had problems loading a lot of content. Some others had more serious problems connecting online, including “error code WS-37469-9” as shown in this thread on the r/PS5 subreddit. Downdetector shows that there were more than 12,000 user reports of problems.
epic games tweeted also during the outage, pointing Fortnite PlayStation players who may have encountered login issues to view Sony’s PlayStation Network status site. To my surprise, I was able to log in to Fortnite and get into a competition even after force quitting and restarting the app so the issues didn’t seem to affect everyone.
Update April 12, 7:53 PM ET: Sony says its services are back online.
